ILVet (11/5/2009)
GOODave (11/5/2009)
- You're easily confused...
- ... and you believe he doesn't want to do what he clearly is doing because he said so.
- ...But you believe they are open because they say so.
-...and you believe he wants open and honest debate because he said so.
- You claim to not have stated your preference for Obama ... but yet every single time anyone says anything about him or his policies, you're in here carrying water for him and erping up Pelosi's words as if you're some sort of human ipecac.
- In view of what the rest of us can plainly see, it is laughable that you want to be taken serioiusly when you say this kind of stuff, echoed straight from the lips of the DNC...
Feel better? Any more ad hominem today? Since you so obviously prefer to settle for a victim's status around here, I'm almost sorry to report to you that THIS is "ad hominem" or argument "to the man," the above was not.
It is indeed unfortunate that the term does not appear to mean what you want it to mean but your desire doesn't in any way alter how such fallacious logic is defined.
Now, to further your understanding (yes, this is condescension), my initial statement was about your behavior or, more aptly, what I have observed about your behavior: It is an opinion and is not demeaning to you as a person (well, I suppose, unless you really ARE carrying water for Pelosi, et al ... THEN I can see where you might take it personally).
Word of caution: If you want to run in here with the big dogs, you are going to have to develop a little thicker skin: You can't try to take umbrage at everything that is said to you because it starts to look like you're doing it to manipulate others to feel sorry for you.
You're not, are you?
ILVet (11/5/2009) FYI, I do support President Obama. I support his goals, morals, and values. I have not waivered from this stance. I am a proud member of the Democratic Party and feel our views are the best for the future to come.It is sad to hear someone acknowledge that openly. Fortunately, though, you're in ever-decreasing company so in fairly short order, it won't matter that you support him.
Now that he's president, if you question his tax policies, energy plans or health-care ambitions, you are “hoping he will fail” — and that, with the help of roundabout reasoning, is tantamount to hoping we cannot transcend race. -Jonah Goldberg, 8/20/09

GOODave (11/5/2009) Since you so...
I guess you weren't done with the ad hominem.
Any more? Please continue, don't let me stop you. I'm sure you've got some more left...

You're trying to redefine words and phrases to help yourself look like a big whiny victim. I won't stand in your way so long as you know most everyone here is on to the gag.

I knew it! Good Job! Any more? Hey, remember when you made fun of me for not having legs? How about you try that again? Or something else...whatever. You're very entertaining!

I just have a question for ILVet..Your winner in NY23, Owens, after eking out a close race against an accountant by promising to oppose a public option in the health bill, instantly switched to support after being sworn in. Your speaker, Ms Pelosi, after promising a 72 hour period to study her proposal before the vote, now refuses to do so. while locking out republicans from the negotiations.
Do any democrats ever tell the truth? I can't find one. Republicans are certainly bad, but these democrats are beyond contempt.
Know this. The majority in this country will not easily give up what little freedom we have left. A political earthquake is looming, and for professional politicians of both parties, it will be terrible to behold. The great test will be if this experiment in liberty and self government will survive or not. I think it will, but dark days of economic collapse and political upheaval remain in our future.

I don't live in NY23.
The only question in your statement was, "Do any Democrats ever tell the truth?"
The answer is yes.

The answer is yes.
But the available and current preponderance of the evidence suggests "no."

MPH (11/5/2009) So, Tlib, Do you at least acknowledge that the Dems have tried to "push" bills through WITHOUT representatives having time to read and understand them?
What do you have to say about the "promise" Obama made about having ALL bills online for a minimum of 72 hours before voting on them?
Do you believe he (and his administration) is being as "transparent" as he "promised"?
How about it, Tlib? What say you?

I'll be honest, I don't remember that promise and am not sure if they are keeping it. The health bill has to still go back to the House after they tear it up in the Senate.
Obama should have presented his own bill to the House. This bill is more "Pelosicare".

tLIB (11/10/2009) Obama should have presented his own bill to the House.
He did.
Didn't you see his lips moving when Pelosi was speaking?
